What is the direct financial assistance program?

The direct financial assistance program (HELP) is designed to provide support to individuals’ basic living needs.

What is covered under the financial assistance program?

The financial assistance program covers basic living expenses in areas of the home, utilities, auto, and critical medical needs.

Are there expenses that you do not cover?

Yes. We do not pay for fines or legal fees, security deposits, personal debt or credit card payments, storage unit costs, or appliance/furniture rentals.

Do I receive the check/money directly from Join Hands Ministry to pay my bill?

No. Join Hands Ministry will pay the creditor (i.e. – landlord, garage, utility company) directly.

How do I apply?

To apply for financial assistance, individuals must complete an application online. Upon submission, applications will be required to schedule a meeting with one of our staff members.

Can I get assistance with completing the online application?

Yes. Upon request, we are able to schedule a time to sit with you to complete the application. If you are in need of these accommodations, please call us during our operating hours at 717.582.7844.

What is the evaluation and decision making process?

After a complete review of your application and a meeting with you, the Client Services Director will present your financial need to our committee for evaluation. Based on the need, available funds, and number of requests, the committee will determine the assistance amount that can be provided. Please be aware that processing financial assistance requests may take up to a week to ensure thorough evaluation and appropriate allocation of funds.
